The Clave is a kind of government for Shadow World. The members of the Clave are Shadowhunters. The descendants of Shadowhunters sometimes recognized as having Clave blood. They who have Clave blood, who come to age, and decide to be demon hunters are considered as the official members of the Clave. Its gathering place is in Idris, the home for all Shadowhunters. The Clave has a council who makes the law for Shadow world called the Covenant. There is punishment for those who break the Covenant. An example of the punishment is being cursed. The Clave also governs the law for the relations between Shadowhunters and the downworlders. The agreement signed between Shadowhunters and the downworlders is called the Accord.
