primary bevel
The primary bevel, sometimes referred to as a grind, of a knife is the bevel on the cutting side of the blade. It can be a partial or full grind, extending to a point on the flat of the knife or the spine respectively; and it can be a hollow, flat or convex grind, depending on the desired blade profile. In some cases the primary bevel may not form the cutting edge, but may lead into a secondary bevel instead.
