full flat grind (FFG)
The term used to describe a style of knife construction where the full flat of the blade tapers into the cutting edge, or secondary bevel, with a flat grind. This gives the advantages of a lighter blade that displaces less material per cut. It does, however, decrease the overall strength of the blade, as the spine is the only full-thickness portion of the blade.
