filework
Although similar to jimping, filework denotes a more decorative and, in some cases, less practical nature. Filework is the application of grooves or serrations in pattern accross areas of the knife. The most popular area for filework is accross the spine of the knife and towards the top of the blade. Although the term would insinuate that it is applied solely using files, dremels and other tools can be used to create much more intricate patterns.
