The High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases is one of the three specialized cassation courts of Ukraine, along with the High Economic Court of Ukraine and the High Administrative Court of Ukraine. In correspondence with Article 32 of the Law on Judicial System and Status of Judges, The High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases:

a) considers cases of civil and criminal jurisdiction in cassation order. In certain cases which are provided by law, this Court can also act as a court of appeals or as a court of the first instance;

b) analyses court statistics, revises and generalizes judicial practice;

c) provides methodological assistance as well as gives recommendations to courts of lower level with regards to delivering judgments in civil and criminal cases.

The High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases was formed on October 1, 2010, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine #810/2010 "On the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases" of August 12, 2010.
