One of the frontmen of American R'n'B group New Edition in 1978, and in 1986 he was forced to leave the group because of his extreme misbehavior. Soon after, his solo career became a success, making the Billboard Charts with his signature hit "My Prerogative". He pioneered New Jack Swing music with is a combination of hip-hop and R'n'B. He later married songstress Whitney Houston. They divorced before her death.
