log cabin

Is a simple house built from logs usually kept simple with just four exterior walls. Historically most log cabins were one story houses meant for ease of construction. Unlike other wood houses these usually used round logs and were put up quickly as first homes for many frontier settlers. Originating from Europe many of these log cabins came to being in the United States as European emigrants moved west in search of land. They took with them the knowledge of building log cabins and applied it on the frontier. The quick and easy construction technique made these types of homes desirable and convenient.
