Supplementary capital that forms part of bank's equity. The tier 2 capital comprises hybrid trading instruments, hidden reserves in the value adjustments and provisions position, fluctuation reserves in the fixed assets, loans and bonds with an original subordinated term to maturity of at least 5 years and 50% of the further contributions the bank is liable to make on a certain amount.
