thurible
Thurible (or censer) is a liturgical vessel used for burning incense during Christian religious services. It is made of metal and hung on a chain by which it can be swung in order to direct incense. Western thuribles have longer chains and thus require two hands for incensing; eastern variants have shorter chains (enabling single hand use) and usually 12 bells that symbolize the 12 apostles.
