relative P/E (price/earnings)

The P/E ratio is divided by the equivalent S&P 500 P/E for the corresponding time horizon. The P/Es can be calculated using either the current year earnings estimate or trailing 12 months actual earnings. A Relative P/E less than one indicates that the companies' returns are currently trading below the market's P/E. This is typically used as a value indicator.
