purl
A purl stitch is made by keeping the yarn in front of your work, inserting the right needle top to bottom, wrapping the yarn around your needle and pulling it through the loop. Then you take the stitch from the left needle. Done!
If you only use purl stitches throughout the work, you end up with alternating rows of knit and purl. The end product will not curl at the edges.
