I2O5 White crystals, decomposing at 275_C, very soluble in water, insoluble in absolute alcohol, ether, and chloroform; used as an oxidizing agent to oxidize carbon monoxide to dioxide at ordinary temperatures, and in organic synthesis. Also known as iodic acid anhydride.
