incense
In Christianity, incense is used during services in order to bless objects or to express worship. It is generally burned in a vessel called thurible or censer, suspended on chains, which can direct incense by swinging. In Western Christianity, thurifiers usually carry thuribles in front of processions; in Eastern Christianty, only ordained clergy may cense.
