data class

(1) An access bean that provides data storage and access methods for caching enterprise bean properties. Unlike copy helpers, data class access beans work with enterprise beans that have local client views as well as remote client views.
(2) A named list of allocation and space attributes that the system uses when creating a data set. The storage administrator uses the Interactive Storage Management Facility (ISMF) to define data classes, but the affected data sets are not required to be managed by the storage management subsystem (SMS). (3) A classification that designates the logical type of data in of a data field. For example, the classification INDICATOR represents a binary value such as TRUE/FALSE or YES/NO.
