cathars

The word is derived from the Greek word katharoi which means "to cleanse". A brotherhood from the eleventh until the thirteenth century which guarded and protected the Christian mysteries. "Cathar" is the mystic word that refers to one who is cleansed in body and soul. By this cleansing, which starts in the heart, a connection with the Holy Ghost can take place. It is the rebirth from water and spirit, which is only possible because of the love and the force of Light of the Christ. In time, the Cathars became synonymous with 'heretics'. Laurel is the symbol of the Cathars.
