- An eighth of a carucate. Sometimes reckoned at 15 acres; land ploughed by two oxen.
- An ox-gang, or as much land as an ox could plough in a year; varying in amount from 10 to 18 acres according to the system of tillage.
- A measurement of land. One eighth of a carucate; notionally as much land as could be kept under plough by one ox. Also known as an oxgang or oxgate of land.
