bluetooth 3.0 (BT3.0)
Over the last decade, Bluetooth has become the de facto technology for wireless point-to-point connectivity. Bluetooth 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 + HS (collectively referred to as BT3.0; HS stands for “high speed”) were introduced in 2009. BT3.0 includes all of the functionality of BT2.1 EDR, in addition to the following new features:
Generic test methodology
Enhanced power control
Unicast connectionless data
The HS version adds support for Generic Alternate MAC/PHY and the 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer, which increases the speed to 24 Mbps.
