accelerator pump
A small pump usually located inside the carburettor that sprays an extra amount of fuel into the engine during acceleration.
Accelerator pumps are found in cars equipped with carburettors. When you accelerate, the accelerator pump delivers extra fuel through the accelerator pump circuit to allow the engine to deliver more power.
