Known as the Warring States period or the Era of Warring States. Occuring during the time of the Zhou dynasty he was often just a figurehead and not in power. The political geography of the period was defined by the seven warring states. Qin, the three Jins: Han, Wei, and Zhao, the Qi, Chu, and the Yan. The Qin State occupied the far west with its core on the Wei River valley. The Han was in the south along the Yellow River. The Wei was in the middle of all the warring states and the Zhao occupied the north. The Qi was located in the east of China centrally around the Shandong Peninsula. The Chu State was the southern most state and was centered in the Han valley. And the Yan was centered in the North East around where you would find modern day Beijing. Through the Warring States period the Qin State first conquered the weakend Han, then took over the northern states before finally the last state Qi surrendered completing the unification of China and establishing the Qin dynasty.
