Kangchenjunga

Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. The name definition is "Five Treasures of Snow". The Geological Survey of India indicates the summit of Kangchenjunga at 8,598 m (28,209 ft). According to the local folks Kangchenjunga is incarnation of a female deity and tries to kill any woman trying to climb to the top. The first woman who reached the summit was Ginette Harrison in 1998. Until then Kangchenjunga was the only eight-thousander that had not seen a female ascent.
