AASL, a division of the American Library Association since 1951, has more than 7,000 members. It serves school librarians in the United States, Canada, and around the world. AASL also maintains three member sections and two special interest groups that represent specialized fields of activity among school media library specialists. AASL seeks to help members achieve appropriate recognition of school librarians as indispensable educational leaders.
