3-meter line
The bilateral line which is 3 meters away from and parallel to the volleyball net. This line defines whether a player is a front row player or a back row player.
A back row player is not allowed to send the ball by any means (spiking, finger pass) to the opponent's side by jumping, if that player is inside the area between the 3-meter line and the net during a specific position. However, if the setter sets the ball to a back row player for attacking, that player can send the ball to the opponent's side without stepping onto or inside the 3-meter line.
