lycra
A spandex textile fiber which has unique elastic qualities in that it can be used in very lightweight, durable fabrics of long-lasting elasticity. It has excellent tensile strength, a long flex life, and high resistance to abrasion and heat degradation. Lycra skin coverings are popular with scuba divers as they give some protecion against abrasions and jellyfish and fire coral stings. They also offer (minimal) protection against cold .
