CH3O(CH3)C6H3OH A combination of isomers, derived from coal tar or petroleum; a yellowish liquid with a phenolic odor; used as a disinfectant, in the manufacture of resins, and in flotation of ore. Also known as hydroxymethylbenzene; methyl phenol.
