On 28th October 1928, a group of young men and women all over Indonesia, gathered themselves together in Jakarta, making a vow, pledging that they would be united under one motherland called Indonesia, one nation called Indonesia and one language called Bahasa Indonesia.

and it was also the first time, Indonesian national anthem - Indonesia Raya being sang.

Since then, every 28th of October, Indonesian commemorated Youth Pledge, because this was the first time in our political history that representatives of the Indonesian youth from different ethnic and religious backgrounds had made a public declaration on the unity of our nation.

We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia.

Secondly

We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia.

Thirdly

We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, Indonesian.
