Muhammad Hatta Rajasa was born in Palembang, 18 December 1953. He graduated from one of well known universities in Indonesia - Bandung Institute Technology (ITB). And he is the former Coordinator minister for economic affairs (2009-2014). Together with Prabowo Subianto, announcing that both would run for the presidential election in 2014. Hatta is the chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN) since 2010. His eldest daugther (Siti Aliya Rajasa) married the youngest son of Indonesia 6th president i.e. Susilo Yudhoyono.

When he ran for vice president in 2014, he is supported by 6 parties i.e. PAN, Gerinda, PKS, PPP, PKB and Golkar.
