All medicines prepared by potentization start as a solution of established chemical strength. Then, one part of the solution is added to 99 parts of the diluent (water and/or alcohol) and the dilution is thoroughly succussed (vigorously agitated by shaking). This new dilution is called the 1C potency because it is a 1:100 dilution of the original solution (C standing for centesimal).
