cultural economics

The analysis of the production and distribution of wealth related to the arts, heritage and cultural industries. This branch of economics concerns the creative arts, the performing arts, art organizations, the media, as well as cultural heritage, and encompasses a range of creative and cultural industries, including music, theatre, dance, opera, film, the art market, the antiques market, crafts, museums, galleries, architecture, publishing, television broadcasting, radio broadcasting, games, fashion, design, software, and advertising. The economic impact of culture and the arts can be measured on a local scale (taking into account the value of goods and services within a community) as well as on a global scale (taking into account international trade and tourism).
