After the Jin dynasty was defeated by the Mongols there was discourse within the Mongol ranks as to whether they should remain in the steppes and those who wanted to adopt the Chinese customs. Kublai Khan grandson of Ganges Khan wanted to adopt the Chinese customs and founded the Yuan dynasty. This was the first dynasty to rule the whole of China with Beijing as the capital city. Throughout the Yuan Dynasties (1271-1368 AD) there was a strong anti-Mongol sentiment and eventually boiling into a peasants revolt and ending the Yuan Dynasty.
