Susan Foreman is the granddaughter of the Doctor and original companion of the First Doctor. Susan and the Doctor leave Gallifrey after stealing a type 40 TARDIS; landing on Earth at some point and deciding to stay. On Earth, Susan is a student at Coal Hill School in London in 1963, and proves to be a brilliant young woman with knowledge that often challenges her teachers. Her teachers Barbara and Ian eventually join her and the Doctor in the TARDIS. In one of their travels, Susan meets and falls in love with David Campbell, a freedom fighter from 22nd century Earth. The Doctor, thinking that Susan believes him to be dependant on her, decides to leave her on Earth to be with David instead of making her choose between staying with David or leaving with him. Later in her life, she briefly meets the Second, Third and Fifth incarnations of the Doctor.
