Sopwith Camel

A highly maneuverable fighter plane used during World War I (1914-1918). The Sopwith Camel was a biplane fighter used by the Allied forces. Armed with dual machine gun armament firing through the spinning propeller blade. The engine had inherent torque and the plane had a propensity to pull to the right. This became an advantageous situation for experienced Sopwith Camel pilots, also referred to as Camel Jockeys. Knowing that the plane pulled to the right they were able to use that to make quick-banking and rolling maneuvers.
