The Sontarans are a militaristic race from the planet Sontar. Extremely belligerent and obsessed with war, Sontarans have a culture which prizes discipline and honour as its highest virtues; with the highest honour of all being to serve in the Imperial Sontaran Fleet. They come from a large, dense planet and so, they have great strength and resilience in low-gravity environments like the Earth. The Sontarans feed on pure energy and reproduce by cloning, having a short lifespan due to their addiction to warfare. Though the Doctor faced Sontarans as enemies many times, he can count with at least one Sontaran ally, Strax, from the Paternoster Gang.
