Dr Martha Jones is a companion of the Tenth Doctor. Martha first meets the Doctor when he poses as a patient at the Royal Hope Hospital in London, where she does her residency. Martha starts travelling with the Doctor after she helps him save the hospital, returning it to Earth after it is transported to the Moon. During the Master's plan to dominate the Earth in the Year That Never Was, Martha leads the resistance, travelling across the Earth by herself to spread the word about the Doctor as part of a plan to save the world. Following the Master's defeat, Martha leaves the Doctor because of her unrequited feelings for him. Martha starts working with UNIT and Torchwood, and later marries Mickey Smith. She eventually quits UNIT and starts doing "freelance" alien fighting with Mickey.
