Originally from the planet Skaro, the Daleks are a warrior race of mutants genetically engineered from the Kaled people. The Daleks are hated and feared throughout time and space due to their ruthless, cruel nature and penchant for world domination. They often consider the Doctor to be their greatest enemy; the Doctor describing them likewise. The Daleks and the Time Lords have fought opposite each other in the Last Great Time War, which culminated in the near-annihilation of the Dalek race and supposed destruction of the planet Gallifrey and all its inhabitants. The Daleks have only managed to survive through the use of a progenitor that allowed them to rebuild their empire.
