Ace, nickname for Dorothy Gale McShane, is a companion of the Seventh Doctor. Born on Earth, Ace is initially a troubled teenager working at an ice cream parlour, but is fired for pouring a milkshake over a client’s head over a complaint. Ace meets the Doctor and his then-companion Melanie Bush whilst working at the ice cream parlour, and when Melanie leaves the Doctor after the battle in Kane, the Doctor offers to take Ace with him in the TARDIS, which she accepts. Eventually, Ace attends the Time Lord Academy on Gallifrey, becoming a Time Lord and earning her own TARDIS, later working as an agent for the Celestial Intervention Agency.
