Jesus shed His blood when He was lashed. Yes he was lashed but He was scourged that even the skin was ripped off his back by the whips and torture instruments used. These are the stripes talked about in "...by His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5) which means full body bruise, which is the lashing that draws blood that produces discoloration and swelling of the entire body. The "healing" here is the same as the medical term "cured". We can be physically healed/cured because of His suffering for us all.
